On March 27 local time, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that Qatar successfully helped Russia and Ukraine exchange two batches of separated children this month.
The statement indicated that Qatar has successfully assisted Russia and Ukraine in exchanging several batches of separated children, enabling them to reunite with their families. Qatar will continue to mediate the conflict peacefully in accordance with the principles of international law. The statement also commended the efforts made by the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights and the Ukrainian Parliament's Human Rights Commissioner in promoting the exchange of separated children between the two sides.
After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, some minors in the areas controlled by Russia and Ukraine respectively were unable to be with their parents. Mediated by Qatar, Russia and Ukraine reached a relevant agreement to exchange separated children. Some of the exchange activities took place at the Qatari embassy in Russia.
