According to reports, a U.S. federal judge ruled on April 30 (local time) that Apple Inc. had violated a previous court order and must make rectifications to better promote market competition. The court order required Apple to open its App Store and allow users to use external payment methods.

Judge Rogers of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said the case would be referred to federal prosecutors to investigate whether Apple and one of its executives had committed criminal offenses.

Apple said in a statement that it strongly opposed the ruling and would appeal.
