According to information from the United Nations website, on February 23 local time, UN Secretary - General António Guterres said in a statement that February 24 marks the third anniversary of the escalation of the Ukraine crisis. 'At this tragic moment, I reiterate the urgency of achieving a just, sustainable and comprehensive peace,' he said.
In the statement, Guterres noted that 80 years after the end of World War II, the Ukraine crisis not only poses a serious threat to peace and security in Europe but also to the fundamental and core principles of the United Nations.
'Enough is enough. After three years of death and destruction, I once again call for an urgent de - escalation of the situation and an immediate end to hostilities,' Guterres said.
Guterres said he welcomes all efforts aimed at achieving a just and inclusive peace, adding that the United Nations stands ready to support these initiatives.
